New Sea Buckthorn Product in Europe

Sea Buckthorn is called by a huge number of names in different parts of the world.  The sidebar to the right (below the jiovi logo) lists many of them and there are even more here on a previous post.  Thanks to many readers from around the world for their help compiling the list.

A Swiss company Ricola has created a new "fresh herb drop" with Sea Berry!

These bonbons with herbs are described as healthy, with seven times the vitamin C of lemons and more beta-carotene than carrots.  No matter how you look at it, I am thrilled to see Sea Berry become more and more mainstream.  These are not yet available in the US.  I have contacted the company to inquire about its availability and will pass on any information I hear from them.  Update:  Adriana Totaro, from Ricola USA, Inc. responded and said that 3 of the herbs used in the European formulation were not approved in the US.  So, for now at least this product will not be making an appearance on my store shelf anytime soon.

"my 10 suggestions for the coming (Culinary) year (in no particular order)"
#1 The Great Taste Awards in 2013 were saturated with winners from Northern Ireland and one of the most intriguing was a jam, produced in Cookstown by En Place Foods, of sea buckthorn and lime.
